I purchased a PC from PC World five years ago and also purchased the 5 year insurance coverage.
Eight days after I had it the mother board went down and the PC was replaced. Aside from ONE call out where the On/Off button was replaced, I did not use the insurance for any more breakdowns. I used them for pC help but that was all.
When the renewal notice came it was for £127 for ONE year. When I questioned this they said It was higher because "I had a call out".
When I asked if they penalized you for call out visits, similar to the insurance on a car (no claims discount) their reply was "YES".
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO a word of advice...
Insure your PC and other appliances with Domestic and General. They are cheaper, respond quicker and they do NOT penalize you for any call out history. BUT keep an eye on how long you insure ...in other words don't make the mistake of insuring so long that you pay more for the insurance then the product itself. No you can purchace PCs and other things cheaper than years ago. Sometime it is better to just go and buy a new one Wink
